Summary
Bel of Apamea = Adad.

Text
There is evidence for an Epicurean school headed by a priest of Bel; an inscription unearthed at Apamea dating to the first half of the second century CE wrote: ‘ … by the command of the greatest, holy god Bel, Aurelios Belios Philippos, priest and diadochos of the Epicureans in Apamea.’ This evidence directly connects the cult of Bel with philosophy, and shows one path by which Babylonian religious and wisdom traditions were able to influence the development of Hellenistic philosophy.
