Text
Atrahasis Epic (NAV) 4.1-16:
[Twelve hundred years had not gone by], the land was grown wide, [the peoples had increased]. He was disturbed [at] their clamor, [at] their uproar [sleep] could not overcome him. Enlil convened his assembly, and said to the gods his sons: “The clamor of mankind has indeed become burdensome for me, I am disturbed [at the]ir clamor, [at] their uproar sleep cannot overcome me. Command that there be ague, let contagion diminish their clamor. Let disease, headpain, ague, and malady blast upon them like whirlwind.” The[y gave the com]mand and there was ague, contagion diminished their clamor. Disease, headpain, ague, and malady blasted upon them like a whirlwind.
