The Bactrian documents from Northern Afghanistan, written on leather, use some terms of Babylonian origin: Bactrian uargo “rent for land, hire of a workman” from Akk. ilku “land tax”; Bactrian gôro which is a measure for grain translated “bushel” from Sumerian and Akkadian GUR = kurru; Bactrian šabato which is name of the month, loanword from Akk. šabāṭu; Bactrian sioano which is name of the month, is a loanword from Akk. siwānu.
