Chaldean Oracles 135:
Therefore, even the gods exhort us not to gaze at (these demons) beforehand, until we have been strengthened by the powers from the initiation rites: “For you must not gaze at them until you have your body initiated. Being terrestrial, these ill-tempered dogs are shameless.” And for this reason, the Oracles add that “they enchant souls, forever turning them away from the rites.”
